TEMASEK AVIATION ACADEMY (TAA)
The project aims to re-design the Temasek Aviation Academy(TAA), an academic building in Temasek polytechnic. It was established to meet the needs of the aviation and aerospace industry for quality training, consultancy, and collaborative industry-focused applied projects. The school focuses on aviation-related fields including aerospace management, electronics, and engineering.
This academy is designed to be an interactive and captivating space by utilizing innovative methods, such as wind scoops and floor voids. Thus, helping it achieve a more fitting appearance as an aviation academy.
- Several issues pertaining to the existing site include the lack of connectivity, lack of identity, and unconducive interiors.
+ The site has a rich nature view towards Bedok reservoir and several iconic features within the school including the aircraft hangar and development lab.
IDEATION PROCESS
One of the main concept features includes a windcatcher tower that is used to tackle the lack of cooling methods and ventilation in the building. It is used to catch the cold breezes from the upper levels and direct them to the interior of the buildings.
